Another "Zoom" Show September 10, 2020 - 6:30 pm


 The Homegrown String Band will be performing via Zoom and YouTube Live on September 10th at 6:30 PM. They are “a postmodern neo-traditional old-time string band” playing “high energy acoustic American roots music.”
This program was funded in part by a Delaware Valley Arts Alliance “Arts For Sullivan” grant entitled “An Outdoor Music Series in Monticello.” This project is made possible, in part, with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and is administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. This series of musical programs is also possible, in part, through funding provided by the Friends of the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library, Inc.

These live unedited stereo recordings were made with Audacity open source software, a Macbook, and two Audio Technica 4033 microphones, set up in an xy pattern in our living room. The end result is a reasonable facsimile of a Homegrown String Band™ live performances or radio show; minus the chatter : ) We hope you enjoy the show, warts and all.

The Unbroken Circle at The Bayport Bluepoint Library

Sunday January, 26 The Homegrown String Band returns to The Bayport Bluepoint Library to present our Unbroken Circle program. This show, inspired by the 1972 Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album of the same name, features traditional songs that have been covered by popular artists including Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Harry Belafonte, Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin, and Nirvana. The show is free, starts at 2:00 pm, and is open to the public.

This will be our first show of 2020 and it marks the twenty third anniversary of our family band. Woodbury Public Library - Highland Mills, NY 10/20/19

Sunday October 20th, 2019 The Homegrown String Band™ will be performing at The Woodbury Public Library in Highland Mills, NY. Showtime is 2 pm. (The show will be in the Woodbury Senior Center adjacent to the library)
This “family that plays together” has been performing around the country, from the National Theater in Washington, DC, to the Festival of American Music and Crafts in Branson, Missouri, since 1997. Inspired by the rural string bands of the early 20th century, this 21st century incarnation of the traditional family band utilizes unique instrumentation including guitar, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, ukulele, and harmonica to put their own stamp on a repertoire drawn from the classics of rural American music.

Edwards Farm Day - 2-5pm, June 2, 2019



On June 2nd, from 2 to 5 pm, the Sayville Historical Society will host its "Afternoon on the Edwards Farm" at the corner of Edwards Street and Collins Avenue one block south of Butera's Restaurant in Sayville, NY. This is a great event for families that includes baby animals, hands-on quilting and weaving activities, churning homemade ice cream, planting seeds, grinding corn, old fashioned games, and The Home Grown String Band™ playing their signature high-energy acoustic Americana music!
