Edwards Farm Day - 2-5pm, June 2, 2019



On June 2nd, from 2 to 5 pm, the Sayville Historical Society will host its "Afternoon on the Edwards Farm" at the corner of Edwards Street and Collins Avenue one block south of Butera's Restaurant in Sayville, NY. This is a great event for families that includes baby animals, hands-on quilting and weaving activities, churning homemade ice cream, planting seeds, grinding corn, old fashioned games, and The Home Grown String Band™ playing their signature high-energy acoustic Americana music!

Edwards Farm Day Sunday, June 3, 2018


It's that time again! Summer starts on Edwards Farm Day. Come on down to the farm on the corner of Edwards Street and Foster Avenue in Sayville, NY for a great day of family fun.

"An afternoon on the Edwards Farm . . . will feature hands-on activities including quilting, grinding corn, making ice cream, and seed planting along with baby farm animals, spinning and weaving demonstrations as well as music by The Homegrown String Band. To help defray expenses, admission is $4.00 per person, $15 for a family of four, $2.00 each additional person over 2 years of age."

Edwards Farm Day June 4, 2017 - 2 to 5 pm

This Sunday, June 4th, from 2 pm to 5 pm The Homegrown String Band™ will once again, be part of the festivities at The Sayville Historical Society's annual "Day on the Farm." Try your hand at grinding corn, churning ice cream, quilting and old-fashioned games. Pet the baby animals and enjoy the Homegrown String Band's high-energy music.

Two Upcoming Events at Long Island Historical Sites


Tri-Hamlet Day at Manor of St. George
Neighborhood Road and Smith Road, Shirley, NY

On Saturday, May 31, 2014, Homegrown Two: The Duo, will be part of Tri-Hamlet Day festivities. Rick and Georgianne will be performing unplugged at The Manor of St George between 10 am and 4 pm. Other activities at The Manor will include Revolutionary and Civil War  encampments. The Manor of St George will be one stop on a tour of various points of interest in the Mastic, Moriches, Shirley community. 631 281-5034

Sayville Celebrates its 250th Anniversary!



In 1761 John Edwards settled in Sayville and built a house at what is now the corner of Foster Avenue and Edwards Street. On Sunday, June 5th, 2011, from 1:00 - 4:00 the Homegrown String Band will be performing two sets of acoustic string band music on the grounds of the old Edwards homestead as part of the annual Edwards Farm Day celebration. Come on down to the farm and help us celebrate the 250th anniversary of Sayville.

Edwards Farm Day

Another day on the farm for the Homegrown String Band. This weekend, Sunday, June 6th, we will once again be part of the Edwards Farm Day festivities. This is an historical restoration site on the grounds of the Sayville Historical Society. The restored farmhouse and museum will be open, and there will be lots of activities for the kids, including pony rides, petting zoo, homemade ice cream, fiber arts demonstrations, and a sound track provided by The Homegrown String Band. The event is rain or shine. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will play two sets inside the museum. See ya there!
