Maple Sugaring - 2026

March 1, 2026:

Long Island is getting some good maple sugaring weather this year. We lost a couple of big maples recently so I only tapped five trees this time around, but they are producing well and the syrup is super sweet. On my first day of boiling; nine hours yielded nine and a half cups of syrup.

March 9, 2026:

Sap boiling day 2, yielded another nine cups of sweet maple syrup. It looks like it's gonna be warm for a while and then get cold again. If the trees don't start to bud I may get in one more day of boiling.
